Joshua Tree photographer Bonnie Hawthorne noticed that the sun rose to the left of her porch in summer and far to the right in winter. She got up before dawn every day for six months to shoot the sunrise from the same spot on her porch for a time-lapse film. This poster features selected frames from that film, illustrating the effect of Earth’s axial tilt on the Sun’s position between the fall and spring equinoxes.
