Quirkily, radically yours – Ruth Nolan

Ruth Nolan, a former wildland firefighter, is a Southern California based writer with strong roots in the Mojave Desert and Coachella Valley. She is editor of No Place for a Puritan: the Literature of California's Deserts (Heyday Books) and co-editor of Fire and Rain: Ecopoetry of California (Scarlet Tanager.) Her fiction has appeared in the Los Angeles Fiction Anthology (Red Hen Press.) She writes for KCET Los Angeles columns Artbound and Tending Nature, News from Native California, Sierra Club Desert Report and Desert Magazine and is the author of Fire On the Mojave: Stories from the Deserts and Mountains of Inland Southern California, a work in progress. Ruth is a professor of English and creative writing at College of the Desert.
