SORRY, YOU MISSED THE SIXTIES!
Who we are
DESERT GENERAL is a multi-brand concept store for those embracing a simple, rural, and drought-conscious lifestyle.
The store is in Twentynine Palms, a small town that stands the test of time, reflects the spirit of California’s Mojave High Desert, and is also home to the Joshua Tree National Park’s entrance (+ 3 million visitors per year.) The city has recently embarked on a new journey to welcome more visitors. A brand new and compact multi-purpose complex, new boutique hotels and restaurants are about to make Twentynine Palms an event planner’s dream destination.
Our concept
Across a spacious 1,000 square-foot space, DESERT GENERAL will display a vast selection of non-mainstream, well-made, and long-lasting products worthy of attention and crafted by passionate manufacturers and artisans. It will cater to rural dwellers, outdoor lovers passing by the National Joshua Tree Park Monument, and nostalgia crowds influenced by the Mojave High Desert’s rich history.
COMMUNITY EVENTS will be hosted in a dedicated area designed to catch the attention of coveted influencers and retail demographics in the Coachella Valley and High Desert communities of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, Wonder Valley, Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Landers, Flamingo Heights, Morongo Valley, and Pioneer Town.
To mark its opening next October, DESERT GENERAL is hosting ‘Sorry You Missed the Sixties!’, a pop-up sales event, driven by original photographs and vintage books celebrating the look and feel of the most defining decade of all times. ‘Sorry, You Missed the Sixties’, will celebrate for 3 months one of the most stylish decades ever.
Original pictures by Frank HABICHT and Philip TOWNSEND will take center stage. These two deceased photographers are known for catchy portraits of musicians, actors, models, socialites, and anonymous people who have shaped the image of the sixties and best capture the spirit of the time. Rare photo books that document the glamour, and the grit of London in this era will accompany the exhibition.
